Introduction to Story+

From its inception in the year 2017 up until the of its run in 2023, Duke University's John Hope Franklin ities Institute FHI was proud host to an enriching summer program known as Story+. Designed for Duke students ranging from undergraduates to graduates, this opportunity was ideal for those with a keen interest in exploring interdisciplinary fields that include arts, interpretive social sciences, and ities research topics. The program uniquely combined rigorous academic exploration with the art of storytelling, ming to create impactful outcomes that diverse public audiences.

Project Overview

Story+ operated as a 6-week pd summer research experience that encouraged students to venture into collaborative team-based projects under the guidance of faculty members from Duke University, librariansarchivists, research staff, and representatives from non-profit organizations. Supervision for dly operations was provided by graduate student mentors, fostering a supportive environment where theoretical knowledge and practical skills could flourish.
